Calabash Bight Resort is located in Calabash Bight on the south shore of the island of Roatan. Guests who are staying in this resort should rent a car in Roatan or organize transfers since this resort is 40 minutes by car from the Roatan Airport in Coxen Hole.
This area to the east of the island is known as Oakridge, and it is less populated and not very touristic. Most of those who live in this part are locals, so this is a good option for those who want a more authentic experience. The road to get there is not paved all the way, so most guests are taken by boat to the resort. Locals usually travel in boat around the island.
This resort in Roatan is located right in front of a beautiful sandy beach, surrounded by picturesque lagoons and mangrove trees. Trade winds ensure that the place is always cool. There are many activities to do on site, including fly fishing with local guides that will take you to catch permit, tarpon, and bonefish. Protected reefs are perfect for snorkeling or swimming. Stand up paddle boards and kayaks are also included in the price. Other activities such as wake boarding, boating, jet ski and shore diving have additional charges.
Calabash Bight Resort has seven bungalows which are set up on the sand and grass. Paths connect the bungalows which are surrounded by palm trees, trees and other tropical plants. All bungalows are made from wood including the front deck which has patio furniture. Ceilings are high with a fan, as well as air conditioning. Bungalows have ocean views and queen sized beds. All units have flat screen televisions with DVD players, cable is not available, but WiFi is. Groups can rent out the whole resort which has capacity for up to 18 guests.
Due to its remote location, this is an all inclusive Roatan resort where pricing may include meals and drinks (premium drinks may have an extra charge). There is a restaurant and bar in Calabash Bight Resort that serves breakfast and lunch in a buffet style. Dinner has a set menu. The chef will coordinate dietary restrictions. There is indoor and outdoor seating in an area with a barbecue and hammocks.
