La Colina Roatan is a vacation rental located in the exclusive residential community of Mar Vista Bay. This community is just minutes from West Bay and West End. For better mobility, it is recommendable to rent a car in Roatan. There is private parking space on site at no additional cost. Since this home is set up on a hill, it offers incredible panoramic views of the south shore of the island and the Caribbean Sea. On a clear day it is possible to see Cayos Cochinos and Pico Bonito, a mountain in mainland Honduras over 30 miles away.
Hugo Coello, a renown Honduran architect, designed La Colina Roatan. It was set up to face south in order to take advantage of the cool trade winds. The house has air conditioning, however many might find the breeze to be enough. This property charges an additional fee for electricity and a $500 security deposit which will be returned upon satisfactory check out. A back-up generator is set up in case the power goes out in the island. Guests are provided with a local cell phone, as well as with complimentary wireless Internet.
Mar Vista Bay has its own small beach with a palapa, offering guests a more private option than West Bay Beach. La Colina Roatan also has an infinity pool that looks over tropical vegetation and the Caribbean Sea. The pool deck has a comfortable love seat, ottomans, lounge chairs made from teak, barbecue and a dining table. It also has an outdoor shower and a half bath. The main house is divided from the pool deck by sliding glass walls.
La Colina Roatan has an open floor plan inside, all in one level. Outdoor grounds are beautifully landscaped with trees and tropical flowers. The kitchen has cabinets made from San Juan, which is a tropical hardwood, and granite countertops. It is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, cleaning products, cooking utensils and wine glass. There is a kitchen island that serves as a breakfast bar with three high chairs. The dining table can sit eight people, and next to it is the living room with sofas and plush chairs, as well as an entertainment center with a flat screen television.
Pay attention to the doors, as they have designs that were hand carved from local mahogany wood. Walls are decorated with art from local artists. Furniture is both from Honduras and Indonesia. La Colina Roatan has three bedrooms; the master bedroom has a king size bed with glass slider doors that give it access to the pool. It has its own private bathroom like the other two rooms. One of the additional rooms has a king size bed, while the other has a queen size bed. All rooms have air conditioning and fans.
