Lenca World is a small theme park in Roatan that showcases the Lenca culture. This indigenous group can be found in Honduras and El Salvador. They were in the area before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors and had contact with the Mayas. There are about 100,000 people with this heritage in Honduras. Sadly, their language is almost extinct, but they continue to preserve their traditional ways and identity. The government of Honduras established a route called “La Ruta Lenca” passing through rural towns in the southwest of the country.
Guests can visit this Lenca World park for the day with a pass. They do cultural shows and serve typical food in the restaurant and bar. Parking is free for those who rent a car in Roatan. Kids can ride on donkeys that are decorated with ponchos. There are also some hiking trails in the area. Cool down in the pools or go down a fun slide for a big splash!
